LAKE WORTH — Barry Grunow may be gone, but he’s certainly not forgotten.
The Lake Worth Middle School teacher was gunned down outside his classroom 15 years ago by then-13-year-old student Nathaniel Brazill.
The same year Grunow was killed, a memorial scholarship for aspiring teachers was started by Lake Worth Dollars For Scholars in his name. This past May, six high school seniors were awarded scholarships totaling $12,000. To date, $131,250 has been awarded to 88 students.
On Oct. 10, The Barry Grunow Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament will be held at PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens.
Payments range from $1,000 for a luncheon sponsor to $100 for a hole sign sponsor.
Tee-off starts at 9 a.m.
